Maintenance loan
The maintenance loan may be used for your personal expenses and will be sent into your bank account in three installments at the beginning of each term. Your living situation and household income are factors that will determine the loan amount, which you can determine prior to receiving. After the course is over, you will only be required to return this money if your annual income exceeds £25,000. You don't repay if you don't earn. You only have to refund 9% of your income above £25,000 if you make more than that. You deduct it straight from your wages in little installments, similar to an additional tax. In addition, students in England are eligible for a 30% Travel Card discount as well as a 100% Council tax discount. (depending on the circumstances).
