Can I go to university without A-levels?
Often, yes. Common routes for adults include an Access to Higher Education Diploma (a Level 3 course designed to replace A-levels), an integrated foundation year, or a Higher National Certificate/Diploma (HNC/HND). Some universities also consider relevant work experience. The right route depends on your background and the provider.
Am I too old to go to university?
There is no upper age limit for a Tuition Fee Loan or for grants in England. Many of the people we help are between 25 and 55, and some are older. Universities are used to teaching adults with jobs and families.
How does the funding work?
For eligible students in England there are usually two loans: a Tuition Fee Loan that is paid to your university, and a Maintenance Loan that is paid to you to help with living costs. You repay only after you finish or leave your course and earn over a set amount. Whether you qualify depends on your circumstances.
Is my English good enough?
We talk with you in plain language and help you understand what level a course expects. If you need to build your English or study skills first, we will say so honestly and point you toward a sensible next step.
